Address: 11288 Horseshoe Bend Road, Daviston, AL 36256

This Alabama park preserves the site of the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, fought March 27, 1814 on a bend of the Tallapoosa River. Andrew Jackson's force of U.S. regulars, Tennessee militia, and Cherokee and Lower Creek allies defeated the Red Stick Creeks, with more than 800 Creek warriors killed, breaking Creek resistance in the Creek War.

Tour the visitor center exhibits and drive the battlefield loop road with its overlooks. For a challenge, walk the full battlefield trail system, including the 2.8-mile nature trail along the river.
