Coronado National Memorial Visitor Center
Address: 4101 E Montezuma Canyon Rd, Hereford, AZ 85615
Coronado National Memorial marks where Francisco Vasquez de Coronado's 1540 expedition, the first organized European entry into the Southwest, crossed into what is now Arizona at Montezuma Pass. The memorial on the Huachuca Mountains' southeast flank celebrates the shared heritage of the United States and Mexico.
Explore 600-foot Coronado Cave with flashlights and walk the short nature trails with views into Mexico. For a challenge, hike the 6.2-mile round trip over Montezuma Pass to the U.S.-Mexico border marker, climbing more than 1,300 feet.
