Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center
Address: 2680 Natchez Trace Parkway, Tupelo, MS 38804
The Battle of Tupelo, fought July 14-15, 1864, threw back Nathan Bedford Forrest's Confederate cavalry and kept Sherman's supply lines safe during the Atlanta campaign. The one-acre memorial on Main Street holds a monument and two cannons, with interpretation handled through the Natchez Trace Parkway visitor center.
Pay a short visit to the monument on your way down the Trace and read the markers. For a challenge, pair it with nearby Brices Cross Roads for a full day following Forrest's 1864 summer campaign.
