Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center
Address: 2680 Natchez Trace Parkway, Tupelo, MS 38804
On June 10, 1864, Nathan Bedford Forrest's smaller Confederate force routed a Union column at Brices Cross Roads, one of the most tactically brilliant victories of the Civil War, though the Union still kept its supply lines to Sherman's army intact. The one-acre memorial site holds a monument and cannons.
Stop at the monument, then visit the independent battlefield visitor center in Baldwyn. For a challenge, drive the marked route over the larger battlefield to follow the fight's stages across the Mississippi countryside.
