Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center

Address: 2680 Natchez Trace Parkway, Tupelo, MS 38804

The Natchez Trace Trail lets you walk in the actual sunken roadbed of the old Trace, the ancient route followed by Indigenous traders, Natchez and Chickasaw travelers, and the Kaintuck boatmen trudging home from New Orleans. More than 60 miles in five sections parallel the parkway through Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi.

Walk short shaded stretches of the deep-worn original trace near the visitor centers. For a challenge, backpack the full Highland Rim section or ride the horse-friendly segments end to end.
