Cedar Grove in Catskill, New York was the home and studio of Thomas Cole, founder of the Hudson River School, America's first great art movement, whose paintings taught the young nation to see its wilderness as sublime. Cole lived and worked here from 1833 until his death in 1848.

Stand in the studio where the famous landscapes were painted and try your own sketches on the grounds. For a challenge, hike the nearby trails to Kaaterskill Falls and other viewpoints Cole painted, following the Hudson River School Art Trail.
