The two Battles of Saratoga in fall 1777 ended with the surrender of British General Burgoyne's entire army, the turning point of the Revolution that brought France into the war; the park preserves the battlefield, and the Boot Monument honors Benedict Arnold's heroism there without naming the traitor.

Drive the tour road, see the Boot Monument, and walk the battlefield paths; young kids can earn a Junior Ranger badge. For a challenge, hike the full battlefield trail network across the bluffs above the Hudson.
