Address: 66 South Main Street, Ste. Genevieve, MO 63670

Ste. Genevieve, founded around 1735, was the first permanent European settlement in Missouri and a capital of French then Spanish Louisiana. Its historic district holds the country's largest concentration of French colonial vertical-log buildings, including the Bolduc and Amoureux houses.

Step inside houses built with logs stood on end three centuries ago and walk the historic streets. For a challenge, walk the full historic district, a National Historic Landmark, and tour the park's rare surviving poteaux-en-terre homes in depth.
