George Rogers Clark National Historical Park Visitor Center
Address: 401 S. 2nd St, Vincennes, IN 47591
In February 1779, George Rogers Clark led a small force through icy floodwaters to capture Fort Sackville at Vincennes from the British, a feat that helped secure the Northwest Territory for the United States. The grand classical memorial on the Wabash riverfront, dedicated in 1936, honors the campaign with murals and a bronze statue of Clark.
Circle the rotunda's murals and walk the Wabash riverfront; young kids can earn a Junior Ranger badge. For a challenge, pair the memorial with a long walk along the Wabash and Vincennes' other French colonial sites.
