Amistad ('friendship' in Spanish) is the clear blue reservoir where the Rio Grande, the Devils River, and the Pecos River meet on the U.S.-Mexico border, created by the 1969 dam built jointly with Mexico. The surrounding canyons hold ancient Lower Pecos rock art painted thousands of years ago.

Swim, boat, and fish the warm desert lake and hike to view the ancient pictographs nearby. For a challenge, paddle the remote Devils River, one of the wildest and clearest rivers in Texas.
