Weir Farm in Connecticut is one of only two national parks devoted to American painting: Impressionist J. Alden Weir traded a painting for this farm in 1882, and Childe Hassam, John Singer Sargent, and John Twachtman all painted its stone walls, barns, and gardens. Artists still work here today.

Borrow free art supplies and paint in the landscape yourself, tour the artists' studios and homes, and walk the painting trails; young kids can earn a Junior Ranger badge. For a challenge, walk every trail on the property and find the exact spots where the famous canvases were painted.
