Tule Lake Visitor Center
Address: 44340 Hwy 139, Tulelake, CA 96134
Tule Lake preserves the site of the Tule Lake Segregation Center, the largest and most repressive of the ten camps where the U.S. government incarcerated nearly 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II. After the government imposed a so-called loyalty questionnaire, Tule Lake became a maximum-security segregation center guarded by tanks and troops.
Join ranger programs at the visitor center to learn this difficult history. For a challenge, take the ranger-led tour of the stockade and jail area, the heart of the segregation center, for the full story.
