Address: Crater Lake National Park, Rim Village, Crater Lake, OR 97604

Crater Lake fills the caldera of Mount Mazama, which collapsed in a cataclysmic eruption 7,700 years ago; at 1,949 feet it is the deepest lake in the United States, and its intense blue water is some of the purest on Earth. The Klamath people witnessed the eruption and hold the lake sacred.

Experience the scenic Rim Drive road, see Wizard Island, and walk the rim viewpoints; young kids can earn a Junior Ranger badge. For a challenge, climb Mount Scott or descend the steep Cleetwood Cove trail to swim in the cold blue water.
