At 28 East 20th Street in Manhattan stands the recreated brownstone where Theodore Roosevelt was born in 1858 and spent a sickly childhood building himself into a naturalist and athlete. After the original house was demolished, the noted architect Theodate Pope Riddle, one of America's first women architects, designed the faithful reconstruction.
See the period nursery and hear how 'Teedie' conquered asthma. For a challenge, take the full ranger-guided tour through five restored rooms rich with Roosevelt family history.
