Address: 103 Orchard Street, New York City, NY 10002
The tenement at 97 Orchard Street housed an estimated 15,000 immigrants from more than 20 nations between 1863 and 1935, and today its restored apartments tell the true stories of the families who lived there, from German-Jewish garment workers to Puerto Rican newcomers. Tours are guided and intimate, through rooms left as families knew them.
Join a family-friendly tour stepping into an immigrant family's apartment. For a challenge, take the specialized tours on sweatshop work, Irish outsiders, or the neighborhood's food traditions for a deeper experience.
