Address: 15 Pine Street, New, NY 10005

On this Wall Street site stood the first capitol of the United States under the Constitution, where George Washington took the first oath of office in 1789 and where the First Congress met and passed the Bill of Rights. The Greek Revival building standing today is the 1842 Custom House, built on the same ground.

Stand on the balcony where Washington was inaugurated and see the Bible used at the ceremony. For a challenge, pair the memorial's exhibits with a walking tour of colonial and financial New York right outside the door.
