Richmond, California built 747 ships in four years at the Kaiser Shipyards, and the women who welded and riveted them became the real-life Rosies who changed the American workplace forever. The park preserves the shipyard sites, the victory ship SS Red Oak Victory, and a visitor center full of workers' own stories.
Board the Red Oak Victory, try riveting activities, and explore the visitor center; young kids can earn a Junior Ranger badge. For a challenge, bike the Bay Trail past all the historic yards and study the home front's deep changes.
