Address: E22030 Coast Guard Point Rd., Grand Marais, MI 49839

Pictured Rocks stretches 42 miles along Lake Superior's south shore, named for towering sandstone cliffs streaked in reds, browns, and greens by mineral-rich groundwater, carved by waves into arches and caves. Waterfalls pour over the escarpment and giant dunes crown the Grand Sable Banks.

Take a boat cruise past the painted cliffs, splash at Miners Beach, and see Munising Falls. For a challenge, hike the 42-mile Lakeshore Trail along the clifftops or kayak beneath the cliffs on a guided trip.
