Ninety Six National Historic Site

Address: Ninety Six National Historic Site, 1103 Hwy 248 S, Ninety Six, SC 29666

Ninety Six was a frontier trading village turned Loyalist stronghold where, in 1781, Patriot forces besieged the star-shaped earthen Star Fort in the Revolution's longest field siege; the fort's earthworks and a bloody mine tunnel still survive.

Walk the one-mile trail to the Star Fort's walls; young kids can earn a Junior Ranger badge. For a challenge, walk the full battlefield and village trace, reading the civil war that split Carolina neighbors.
