New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park
Address: 419 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70130
Jazz was born in New Orleans around 1900, where African, Caribbean, and European music met in Congo Square gatherings and the dance halls of Storyville, launching Louis Armstrong and a sound that swept the world. The park's visitor center in the French Quarter and its stage at the New Orleans Jazz Museum keep the music live.
Catch free ranger-led concerts and try instruments at the visitor center. For a challenge, follow the jazz history walking tour through Treme and cap it with an evening set at the museum.
