Address: 44150 District Office Lane N, Fort Spokane Visitor Center, Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, Davenport, WA 99122
Grand Coulee Dam's 1941 completion backed up the Columbia River for 130 miles to create Lake Roosevelt, a desert-canyon reservoir ringed by the lands of the Spokane and Colville tribes, whose Kettle Falls fishery, a salmon crossroads for 9,000 years, lies beneath the waters.
Swim, boat, and camp along the shoreline and visit Grand Coulee Dam. For a challenge, paddle the lake's quiet upper reaches or houseboat into its remote canyon arms.
