Lake Clark National Park, reachable only by small plane or boat, packs the Alaska Range, two active volcanoes, turquoise lakes, and salmon-rich rivers into four million wild acres southwest of Anchorage; its streams feed the great Bristol Bay salmon fishery. Dena'ina Athabascan people have lived here for thousands of years.

Watch brown bears fishing at Chinitna Bay, see floatplanes land at Port Alsworth, and fish the lakes and rivers. For a challenge, experienced travelers can backpack the trackless backcountry or paddle the park's designated wild rivers.
