Address: 20 US Highway 14A East, Lovell, WY 82431

Yellowtail Dam's 1966 completion backed up Bighorn Lake for 71 miles through a spectacular 1,000-foot-deep canyon on the Montana-Wyoming line. The Bad Pass Trail crossing the canyon mouth served Indigenous travelers for thousands of years, and wild horses still roam the nearby Pryor Mountains.

Take a boat tour on the lake, watch for wild horses and bighorn sheep, and visit the Fort Smith or Lovell visitor areas. For a challenge, kayak deep into the canyon or hike the strenuous canyon rim trails.
