River Raisin National Battlefield Park Visitor / Education Center

Address: 333 North Dixie Hwy., Monroe, MI 48162

The January 1813 Battle of Frenchtown on the River Raisin was one of the War of 1812's bloodiest clashes: after Kentucky troops were defeated and wounded prisoners massacred by Native allies of the British, 'Remember the Raisin!' became an American rallying cry. It is the only national battlefield from that war.

Explore the visitor center's dioramas and artifacts and walk the battlefield grounds in Monroe. For a challenge, walk the full battlefield trail and study how this loss shaped the war in the Northwest.
