Glacier Bay National Park Visitor Center
Address: 1 Park Road, Gustavus, AK 99826
Glacier Bay is a living laboratory of glacial retreat: since Captain Vancouver's survey in 1794, the bay's glaciers have pulled back more than 60 miles, revealing fjords where rainforest now grows. The bay is the homeland of the Huna Tlingit and a haven for humpback whales, sea otters, and harbor seals.
Watch whales, walk the rainforest trails at Bartlett Cove, and join ranger programs at the lodge. For a challenge, paddle a multi-day sea kayak expedition up the fjords to the face of a tidewater glacier.
