Boston Harbor Islands Welcome Center
Address: 191W Atlantic Ave, Boston, MA 02110
Thirty-four islands and peninsulas in Boston Harbor make up this park, used by Indigenous peoples for thousands of years and studded with historic forts, including Civil War-era Fort Warren on Georges Island. The islands offer beaches, hiking, tidepools, and some of the region's best birding, with over 200 bird species recorded.
Take the ferry out to explore Fort Warren's dark tunnels, picnic on Spectacle Island, and beachcomb the outer islands. For a challenge, reserve an island campsite or sea kayak between islands for an overnight on the harbor.
