The only U.S. national park south of the equator spreads across three Samoan islands, protecting coral reefs, tropical rainforest, fruit bats, and the living Samoan culture that has thrived here for 3,000 years. The park includes Ofu's celebrated coral beach and the steep volcanic ridges of Tutuila.
Snorkel over coral reefs, watch flying foxes wheel overhead, and hike to World War II gun emplacements at Blunts Point. For a challenge, climb the Mount Alava Trail, a steep ridge hike with ladders and ropes above Pago Pago Harbor.
